State Shutdown Effect on Transit Services
The Metropolitan Council has told DARTS that public transit services will continue beyond July 1, even in the event of a state shutdown. This applies to both Transit Link and Metro Mobility, the two public transit services operated by DARTS. The Metropolitan Council cannot continue transit service indefinitely without state funding, but will be able to operate for a period of time. Barring a court decision to the contrary, they plan to operate all services beyond July 1.
Note: The final version of the state budget, whenever that does come, may have implications for transit services. It’s not clear what those changes might be, but they would not happen immediately. Don’t hesitate to stay in touch with DARTS for updates. Questions or concerns may also be directed to Metro Transit Customer Relations (612-373-3333) or the Met Council Public Comment Line (651-602-1500).
