Community Initiatives and Partnerships

As a community leader in aging and caregiving, DARTS partners with others to respond to community needs and interests.

  • DARTS has a nonprofit subsidiary, DARTS VMS (Vehicle Maintenance Service).

  • DARTS has a separate website for family caregivers.

  • After a year of planning with community residents, DARTS launched River Bluffs Village (RBV) in 2008 as a suburban independent living model patterned after Beacon Hill Village in Boston. This membership-based program of DARTS involved residents 55 and older living in Lilydale, northern Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake, and West St. Paul. Three-year funding from the Daniels Fund ended in 2010. Key RBV learnings and opportunities are being pursued within DARTS' program areas.

  • Living Longer and Stronger in Dakota County (LLS) was a 3-year partnership of Dakota County and DARTS. This resident-driven initiative was designed to provide guidance to the County on the changing needs and interests of an aging population in the areas of finances, health and wellness, housing, services, transportation, and work and community. The County-DARTS contract for LLS ended in 2010, and a final report documents the work and initiative recommendations.
